About

Hi!

My name is KryssaLee Baze, and I'm a 15 year old musician.  I play violin and piano (violin being my favorite instrument, piano a VERY close second).

My musical journey really began when I was 3. I got a toy song box with a microphone at a family function.  I was singing "Jingle Bells" when a relative remarked, "She has a really good voice, and can sing in tune!"  On my 5th birthday I sang "Jesus Loves Me" in our church.  Then, when I was 10, we were gifted a free piano and my musical journey started in earnest.

My Mom taught me what piano she new until we found a teacher.  I took lessons for 4 months until she moved away.  Then, we found my current teacher, and I've been taking lessons with her ever since, until a few months ago, when she quit giving lessons due to health issues.  Now I'm shifting my focus from classical to hymn improvisation.  My piano goal is to serve our saviour as a church pianist, leading the congreatation through service.

When I was 11, My family visited a local church, and a teenage girl was playing violin for the song service.  I instantly fell in love and begged my Mom to please speak to her about lessons.  We did, and she said that she wasn't giving lessons at the moment, but would contact us if she decided to.  Several months later, we got a phone call.  It was her! I started taking violin on May 5th, 2018, and have continued ever since, until last summer when she informed me that although I had been playing only 3 years (while she was an 11 year player), I had reached her level in technique and that I needed to find another violin teacher.  We found one from Kennewick, WA and I started taking lessons from her in July.  A couple months ago, however, we realized that I was surpassing this teacher as well, and so I started with my new teacher: Yuqi Li, the tenured soloist with the Oregon Symphony.  She has a doctorates and has won many competitions.  I'm soooooo blessed, and VERY excited to be taking lessons with her.

I have been very blessed with my wonderful parents and a brother who are the most supportive family in the world.  I thank Jesus Christ every day for blessing me so much.  I got saved when I was 6 and have striven to serve Him since then.  I am far from perfect but through His mercy, grace, and shed blood He forgives me!  He has blessed my music journey and life in general, and I'm so grateful! Thank you Jesus!

This blog will contain my posts about practice, technique, musical ideas, things that help me with my struggles and 'humps', and my practice journal for both violin and piano.
